Volunteer

For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

First, thank you so much for your interest in volunteering at Rise Up Church. Your desire and willingness to be a part of what God is doing here in Savannah at Rise Up Church stirs up my faith and I pray that it does the same for yours. As a husband, father of five, pastor, student and an introvert, I know that your time is valuable and that there are many other things that you can do with your time. So again, THANK YOU for walking with us.

Volunteering at church is a privilege that we get to participate in. It is not a job nor should it feel like one. Volunteering at Rise Up church is one of the ways we get to engage our community, become more established in the faith and spiritual family, become equipped for the work of life ministry and are empowered to raise disciples, empower families and revitalize neighborhoods by the transformational power of the gospel.
Due to the nature of certain Teams, some teams may be a better fit for some and not others, just like certain requirements for each team will vary some. For example, to volunteer on Kids team will have a few more steps than volunteering on the First Impressions team. But, there are some basic requirements that we all have to meet to ensure that we are loving, investing and caring for the individual more than the task that the individual can perform.

The mission of Rise Up Church is to raise disciples, empower families and revitalize neighborhoods by the transformational power of the gospel. So the volunteer process is to ensure that everyone is on the same mission and is being cared for.

Basic Requirements

Spiritual

Your relationship with Jesus is what we care about most and it is the most important relationship to steward. Spending time with Jesus and honoring him in your daily life is vital for how you live. It is out of that relationship that you are able to volunteer. If at any given time, you believe that volunteering is distracting you from your relationship with Jesus or it becomes an un-enjoyable task please speak with your team lead about what we can do to help you, even if that is transitioning you to another team. If you believe that there are areas in your life that not completely submitted to Jesus’s Lordship, speak with Pastor Kevin about it, before serving on a team. Again, our heart is not to fill positions or to gather volunteers, but it is to help mature in your relationship with Jesus. We value YOU and your relationship with Jesus, not what you can do.

Kids Team

Rise Up Kids is all about raising disciples of the next generation! (We are not babysitters, but missionaries.) Because Kids' Team volunteers fill a teaching position, helping kids to become more established in their faith, we have a higher bar to join the team. Please fill out the form below and we'll be in touch.

Musc Team

We'd love to have you audition for the Music Team. We gather together on Wednesday's at 7PM to practice together and on Sunday mornings at 8:15AM to rehearse.

First Impressions

Help set a welcoming atmosphere, by greeting, making coffee, laying out connection cards and making sure the church is a welcoming place.
Nice with the sound? AV Team ensure that  all of the audio (mics, speakers, etc.) and visual (slides, videos, notes, etc.) are ready for our gatherings.
Introverts gave a shout: Come in early, set up the pipe and drapes, place the chairs out, make sure everything is in its place and then recharge in silence over a cup of coffee (optional).
